For centuries, Christians have celebrated Advent (with candles, songs, readings, and sermons) as a time of expectant waiting for Christmastime and a reminder that Jesus will return one day. Advent begins on December 3 (the fourth Sunday before Christmas) and ends (as it does every year) on Christmas Eve.
