OK… here’s the deal. Gateway’s gonna be the church this Thanksgiving season in a way we haven’t done before! We’re asking you to help us provide meals for those in Wayne County who would otherwise have to go without. Together, we can provide all the needed ingredients for a perfect Thanksgiving Day dinner —including a turkey!
We’re asking you to take the menu below to your local grocery store, and either buy all the items on the left side of the list and/or the turkey (on the right side of the list). Many of you may want to buy both! We do ask, however, that if you choose to buy the items on the left side, that you buy all of them. Hypothetically speaking, we don’t want to end up with a hundred cans of green beans and twenty-five cans of corn!

If you choose to buy the items of the left side of this list, know that you’ll only be spending about $12 at Wal-Mart. In fact, many of the items will most likely go on sale in the next few weeks, and you’ll be able to get them for less. If you choose to buy just the turkey, you’ll be paying less than a dollar/pound and in some instances (especially the seven days before Thanksgiving) considerably less than a dollar/pound.
All in all, folks, for $20-$25, you can help give people a reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving season. After all, we’ve all been incredibly blessed. It’s time to be the church and pass those blessings along to others.
So… over the next few weeks, start buying your items. Then, beginning Sunday, November 15 and continuing through November 22, we’re wheeling our big freezer out of the kitchen and putting it out front to start collecting turkeys. Try to bring your other items in a paper bag, and we’ll stack those bags alongside the freezer. Then on Sunday, November 22, we’ll have a special time of celebration, dedication, and thanksgiving at both our 9:30 and 11 AM worship services.
We will be packing the “Thanksgiving in a Bag “ meals on Monday, and delivering them on Tuesday. And YES! We will need help on both days.
